Dopamine RESET

Dopamine is a type of neurotransmitter. Your body makes it, and your nervous system uses it to transmit messages between nerve cells – it’s a chemical messenger. Dopamine is a big part of our unique human ability to think and plan and it plays a role in how we feel pleasure – it’s a happy chemical.

It’s also been linked to some mental health disorders – which can be caused by an imbalance of dopamine in different parts of the brain.  Listening to music you love will make your brain release more dopamine.

Wired.com report on “The Neuroscience of Music – Why does music make us feel? On the one hand, music is a purely abstract art form, devoid of language or explicit ideas. The stories it tells are all subtlety and subtext. And yet, even though music says little, it still manages to touch us deep, to tickle some universal nerves.”  A recent scientific study has found that dopamine plays a direct role in the reward experience induced by music as music triggers the release of dopamine in both the dorsal and ventral striatum.

This music with its floating melodies transports you to a magical world of sunbeams and sunsets, the notes ripple across the surface of gentle seas, resonating with the breeze, and transporting you to a calming meditational state.

In his poem, Walter de la Mare describes Music:

“When music sounds, out of the water rise
Naiads whose beauty dims my waking eyes,
Rapt in strange dreams burns each enchanted face,
With solemn echoing stirs their dwelling-place.

This audio track is truly stunning, embedded with deep Alpha waves which help with the release of dopamine – enhancing that feel good factor whilst listening.
