When the parasympathetic nervous system (PSNS) is activated, it slows our heart and breathing rates, lowers blood pressure and promotes digestion. Our body enters a state of relaxation, and this relaxation breeds recovery. The more time we spend in a PSNS state, the healthier we are.

➤ How do Theta Waves work?
Theta brain waves are the brain state of REM sleep (dreams), hypnosis, lucid dreaming, and the barely conscious state just before sleeping and just after waking. Theta is the border between the conscious and the subconscious world and, by learning to use a conscious, waking Theta brain wave, we can access and influence the powerful subconscious part of ourselves that is normally inaccessible to our waking minds. While in the Theta state, the mind is capable of deep and profound learning, healing, and growth – it is the brainwave where our minds can connect to the Divine and manifest changes in the material world.

Extreme relaxation (almost dream like) is a commonly noted result when listening to Theta Waves.

➤ How does EMDR work?
The individual is processing the trauma with both hemispheres of the brain stimulated. The chosen positive belief is then installed, via bilateral movement, to replace the negative one. Each session normally lasts for about one hour. It is believed that EMDR works because the “bilateral stimulation” by-passes the area of the brain that has become stuck due to the trauma and is preventing the left side of the brain from self-soothing the right side of the brain. It is rare but sometimes a headache may occur as a result of EMDR, this is because your right and left brain hemispheres aren’t used to ‘talking’ to one another to defeat trauma, this is essentially the brain’s way of healing itself and the headache will be temporary.

A general guideline is to listen for at least 15 to 30 minutes. For deeper effects, such as enhanced sleep or deeper meditation, listening for an hour or more can be beneficial. It’s essential to listen to your body and mind’s responses and adjust accordingly. Longer sessions can provide more profound benefits, but even short periods can offer significant relaxation and healing effects.
