Meditation – Beta Brain Waves

Beta brain waves occur when we are wide awake, alert and focused; when we are going about the activities of daily living and making decisions. This is when the brain produces higher-speed beta waves, which measure between about 12 and 35 Hz. These waves dominate when you’re engaged in active thinking, concentration, or problem-solving. When you’re alert, working on a project, or engaging in a conversation, beta waves are at their peak.
Beta brain waves are associated with normal waking consciousness and a heightened state of alertness, logic and critical reasoning. Beta waves may help people to speed up their brain, making them capable of fast thinking, generating new ideas quickly, and living in a high-state of mind.
Be aware that an excess of Beta waves can be linked to stress, anxiety, or mental fatigue. Constant high-beta activity can contribute to feeling overwhelmed or mentally exhausted.
Beta waves definitely help to increase mental processing at work and whilst studying. When a person speaks, beta brainwaves naturally increase and became dominant. If you are interested in becoming more social, an increase in beta brainwaves may be beneficial. In most people, an increase in beta activity fosters conversational energy and an ability to keep conversation going. Though a specific peak-performance brainwave pattern is heavily debated, beta brainwaves can certainly help in performance ability. When a person’s focus increases, and their energy levels skyrocket, their performance abilities will naturally increase.
If you feel a lack of energy, if you always feel tired and wish you had more energy, then beta brain waves could definitely help you to boost your energy. People low in beta brainwaves feel tired and report less overall energy through the day.
To get out of a sleepy state and lift some mental fog, consider increasing your beta waves. Positive thinking and beta waves dominance are related because the left-hemisphere is associated with rational thoughts. Studies have been done and show that people higher in the beta brainwave range actually have higher IQ’s than the average population. This makes perfect sense, since activities like reading and solving math problems can definitely help build a smart brain.
Each time you get that feeling of adrenaline rushing through your body or a feeling of excitement in your stomach, this is caused by an increase in the amount of beta brainwaves.
When people have a beta brainwave dominance, they naturally feel more goal-oriented. It could be because they have more energy, are more social, and have high levels of focus that cause them to naturally be more goal-oriented. It could also be because of an increase in left-hemisphere brain functioning which is associated with goals and goal setting. Either way, it definitely will get you more inspired to achieve your goals.
